WNBA Picture Observation: Anyone else notice the engagement on Candace Parker's finger? We all knew she was engaged to Shel but this is the 1st time I've seen the ring. Nice.
I always liked how the WNBA didn't waste any time after the women's college basketball season was over. I watched a few minutes of the draft, and greatly appreciated the fact that these teams wouldn't even use the entire allotted time to make their draft picks. (I know that the league is not a women-only enterprise at the executive level, but it makes you wonder if women are better at making quick business decisions.)
Anyway, here's the draft board:

Duke's own Wanisha Smith was drafted in the 2nd round (27th overall) by the New York Liberty. Her new teammates include UNC's Erlana Larkins, chosen in the 1st round.

Candace and Shel! I watched the draft show, and caught just a glimpse of him when she gave him a kiss after her name was called.
I'm glad Nish got picked; some mock drafts I looked at had her going in the third round or not at all, which had me worried.
I think she will show her value in the WNBA. She really surprised me this year, I didn't think she was as capable of what she produced to be honest, it was a pleasant surprise. I'll look forward to watching her stats, congrats again!
Congrats to Wanisha! Also Emily Waner has been invited to the LA Sparks tryout camp. Hope she makes it!
