UNC Hatred Tsunami- What a conspiracy

The post on the DTH by David McKnight linked below is one of the most bizarre ramblings you will ever see.

It appears that UNC was victim of wide-ranging and deep conspiracy to deny them their due. The refs, the national press, CBS, and states of Texas, Kansas, New Mexico (not to mention Denial) all are iimplicated.

    He's wrong...

The conspirators are known as the Pentaverate:
    The Queen
    The Vatican
    The Gettys
    The Rothschilds
And Colonel Sanders (before he went tits up)

They meet tri-annually at a secret mountain resort in Colorado, known as "the Meadows."

    Great piece!

It would work as satire, but I guess that's not what the author intended.

Wow, that was embarrassing, not to mention horribly written. Greg at the Chronicle has nothing on this guy.

The saddest part is that the author admits to being a "Dukie". More fodder for the Duke hatred tsunami, if anything -- a Duke graduate trying to make Tar Heel fans look bad by pleading their case in the weirdest manner possible...assuming he really *is* a Duke graduate.

    Idiot

Florida was the Number 1 overall seed last year. They played UCLA in the second semifinal.

Duke was the Number 1 overall seed in 2004, 2001 and if they named it back then, 1999. We played in the second semifinal in all of those years.

Maryland played in the second semi in 2003.

Go back to 1996, where you had #1 vs. #2 in UMass-Kentucky in the second semifinal. In 1995, UCLA was number one going into the tourney, and they played in the second semi. In 1992, Duke was number one going into the tourney. We played in the second semi.

But it was an anti-UNC conspiracy. Does no one fact check anymore?

I could go with the whole moving the #1 seed issue if they had switched which team UNC was going to play at the last minute or if the game times were switched on Saturday morning. Since neither of those things happened, the time they played the game is irrelevant to his argument. (Whatever argument he was trying to make.)

I can't believe he left out the most obvious conspiracy. I believe Hansbeaker was on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week.

I suppose if Michigan and WVU play each other in football in the next couple of years, the media should focus on the rich tradition of the two schools and not the obvious Rich Rodriguez drama.......right.

    Smile What do I know?

I read the DTH as tongue-in-cheek from the git-go. Actually part are pretty funny.

FWIW, Duke-UConn, the featured game, was the second game in 2004. So, he is just blowing smoke about the timing. And also about the refs, because different sets of refs work the two semis.

    Overall, rather droll.

Or do you guys agree with me that is was a humor piece?

    >>Every Division I team in the country and every Division I conference in the country should be concerned about having your previous tourney seed ditched just for the sake of hyping a game in the media.<<

Does the grass seem more green today? Are the flowers so much more lovely now that spring is in full bloom? Did I not enjoy my drive home from NYC just a little bit more because I got to listen to so very many commentators on sports radio gawp and gasp at the 'holes collapse? I can't stop smiling...it's poetry, baby!

It certainly works for me - I crave a Big Crunch on a regular basis.

    You forgot Coach K.

I think some of you need to look at that again. It's a user comment on an article in the Daily Tar Heel. Some random guy (not associated with the DTH) made the comment. It's just a really long comment on what is basically a message board. Also, I'm pretty sure he was serious.

I don't think this is any less crazy than some of the comments made on Chronicle articles.

It does seem to be quite a bit more windy and bleating though.
