On his retirement tour he will definitely get a warm reception at unc.

Emmert was simply an awful executive.
Wetzel skewers Emmert:

Can we do the old maneuver of "I appreciate your two week's notice, but you don't need to come back?"
Re the headline on the home page: "Mark Emmert Finally Acknowledges The Obvious: He’s The Wrong Person To Lead The NCAA"
The man is 69 years old. I don't think he's acknowledging anything other than time.
And nothing of value will be lost.
Eh, I'm not sure how much of the issue was Emmert and how much of the issue was simply the NCAA itself. Maybe his replacement will do better. I'm far from convinced at this point that it isn't a systemic problem and not a President problem.
The two are not necessarily mutually exclusive. I think the NCAA might have to actively try to get a worse president to actually do so. But, as you point out, the NCAA is incompetent as an institution, so who knows how it will screw this up.
Has Jay Bilas nominated himself as the replacement yet?
No kidding. (Sadly, gotta spread sporks.)
As alluded to in the NIL thread, K got out at the right time. You know how the cliché was that being POTUS turned your hair grey? The NCAA job would make a man of K's hair status go bald.
Just like anyone else here, I wasn't a fan of Emmert, but I pity his replacement. The idea of the NCAA being an oversight of college athletics was always a stretch before, but with NIL and the portal, it's a total fallacy now. A branded sponsor of a few trophies given out, that's the shell the it will have become.
Or...another point of view. (Fitting on NFL draft night.) His replacement is going to be the equivalent of Roger Goodell. A guy who knows it's ALLLL about money, and can now freely flaunt it.
Actually, that one sounds more likely, so no baldness forthcoming. And also, K's not the man for that job, either. (Keep him at home in the garden, Mickie!)
