Delta Air Lines says it will offer voluntary severance payouts to roughly 30,000 employees — more than half its workforce — and cut domestic capacity by an extra 5% this year as part of an overhaul of its business plan to deal with soaring fuel prices.

The part I don't get is that you cut 1/2 your workers, and 5% of your flights...boy the ones who stay are doing double duty, right? I've heard of making do with less, but this seems like a lot.
