This morning, I woke up to a dream where I was overhearing a news report that George Clooney had been killed in an industrial farming accident.
What's even weirder is, as I was kind of floating up from sleep to awake, I remember thinking, "Oh no, how is BostonDevil handling the news?!"
The subconscious mind is a terrifying and wondrous thing...

Turns out, you CAN get there from here.
Old man should've gotten a GPS.
I haven't read the thread titled "Kendall Marshall Wrist Watch" on the EK board. Is it a discussion of Timex vs Rolex?
I was sick (very bad chest cold) about 6 weeks ago. It lasted 10 days... the cold part, anyway.
What I have been blessed with ever since is a lovely cough that won't go away, although I feel fine otherwise.
I should probably see a doctor.
Sue71, my experience may be helpful. I had a cough last winter (2010-2011) for 13 weeks. It began as a sinus infection, which I medicated immediately with strong antibiotics. The cough showed up a week later (on or about Dec. 10). It was awful; I had trouble talking without going into a coughing fit. My son-in-law is an ENT specialist and, at his suggestion, I twice went down to Denver to see the head of ENT at CU.
There are three causes of coughing, I came to learn: sinus and post-nasal drip; asthma (lung and trachea congestion) and -- most surprisingly -- acid reflux. The last is not just the reaction to a spicy meal, but a more chronic condition.
The ENT docs gave me some more antibiotics and a very heavy dose of prednisone. The prednisone is the "gold standard" of treatments and usually clears up the cough. Mine did -- but only for 5-6 days. When it came back, I started taking acid reflux medicine (Prilosec), which was OTC stuff but at a quadruple dosage.
In mid-February I began taking codeine cough syrup very regularly. The cough cleared up about the first of March. I did reveal a drug allergy to Prilosec. It was an angry and itchy raised rash on the torso, which took a couple of weeks (and more Prednisone to get rid of). I now use cimetidine, which is less powerful than Prilosec but seems to work OK.
I don't know how serious your cough is, but here are the lessons I learned. Jump all over a sinus infection and a cough, esp. w/ codeine cough syrup. Coughs tend to feed on themselves. Don't neglect the possibility of acid reflux, even though the cough starts as a cold. And you might inquire about Prednisone, which is good against most allergic reactions (and besides, you feel really strong).

Have you been checked out for whooping cough?
Whooping cough- never thought of it. Can adults get that? I ask seriously because I've only heard of it WRT young kids.
Acid reflux- oh geez, is my mom all over me about this one. I wonder, though, if that would randomly show up after a chest cold? BTW, the chest cold started with a wicked nasty cough that kept me up all night, as in couldn't even breathe back then.
My sinuses are perpetual issues. And allergy season has hit in full force here... lovely on the sinuses.
Oh did I mention I have a history of asthma? Especially when I get sick.
Triple play of symptoms?
I should see a doctor.
PS Baylor is stinking up the joint against UK. From Baylor being up 10-7 point at which point UK went on a 15 (?) point run and went up 22-10 or so... feh. I thought Baylor was better than this but they look like a hot mess right now.
Yes, adults can get whooping cough. A friend from choir had it last fall.
List of things to do that have been neglected for several months:
* Doctor appointment
* Dentist appointment
* Eye doctor appointment
* Hair cut/color
* Cat to vet
* Clean house
* Put away all clean laundry (ok that falls under clean house but what the heck)
* Pull weeds in backyard
Who wants to join me?
Yeah, whooping cough has been making a resurgence, in part because adults aren't getting boosters (since whoever heard of anyone ever having whooping cough?) Yet, both my brother and dad got it 2 years ago - man, it took my dad 10+ weeks to shake it. It was also declared a health emergency here this winter, due to so many cases.
That said, if you spend 2 seconds thinking, "do I whoop when I cough?" you'd know if you had it. Literally, you cough so hard that when you finally can gasp for air, it comes out as a whoop.
My guess is, you either have bronchitis or it's turned into walking pneumonia. Either way, get thee to a doctor! (And then, get to feeling better, that's one serious to-do list! )
Man, i've just pretty much given up on this one. I have no idea how the addition of one tiny person to the family, has caused the quantity of laundry to wash, fold, and put away, to quadruple. I feel like I just shuffle clothes between laundry baskets, with a day of wearing in there somewhere.
