Dude, I mean Turk, you're Christian Laettner. Wasn't too fast to miss that one now was I (referring to comment in "Whatever" thread).

Unless you enjoy talking to machines and strangers, you NEED caller ID. We aggressively screen calls. In addition to the cordless, we actually have TWO corded phones with the twisty thingie that gets all tangled up. They must be at least 20 yrs old...

EJ, feel like doing any polling on assorted phone configurations?
I'm not over 60 but I am an aunt! I don't get enough phone calls to screen them. I have no problem cutting off the few sales calls I get. The no call list has worked pretty well for me. If I do want to screen calls, the answering machine is always on and in another room so I'll just let that pick up - robo calls and sales people tend to hang up.

    Congrats on Christian Laettner status!

Well, at least you didn't text her.

Oh, I'm also out of my funk, mostly, and yes, the basketball game helped.

    Squeak, squeak, love that sound.

Yeah - I'm not alone in the world. I have been a proud cell phone owner for 5 years. I suppose it is time to consider upgrading the phone.

    "I got a friend with a phone in the basement . . . "

    What does that mean?

I don't know - but I think Nelly has a friend with a pole in the basement.

I don't know what that means either; all I can say is that it's not a PB quote...

Does that mean he's glad to see you?

    Question

What I don't get is why my stinky cell phone continues to work well, but my cordless land line phones, on average, work well for about maybe four months before breaking down.

  17. #5977
I run through batteries fairly quickly with my cordless...but have had the same handset for 3 years now.

    (Rechargeables don't hold the charge.)

    I stand corrected.

All this time I thought it was a phone. A pole makes much more sense. Apparently phone is a common mistake.

I had no clue - even with phone in the line. Google is my friend.
