2024 Top Movies of Summer- Box office poll

Oh wow, we are probably a week or so late getting this annual poll started. Please have your votes in by Wednesday, May 1 at 1230pm ET as that is when our contest will close.

It is time for the summer, you should know the rules by now. You pick the 5 movies (not 4, not 6, don't make me go all Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch on you) that you think will generate the most domestic (not international!!) boxoffice during the summer movie season. We are defining the season as May 1 to August 31. You can pick any film released in that time frame. Yes, that is a long time, but it will give you a lot of interesting films to pick from. We will determine the winner based on boxoffice receipts from May 1 through September 30th. If we have not formally declared the winners before September 30th, the contest will end at that time.

The Fall Guy - May 3
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes - May 10
IF - May 17
Furiosa - May 24
Bad Boys 4 - June 7
Inside Out 2 - June 14
Quiet Place: Day One - June 28
Horizon: Chapter One and Two - June 28 (Chapter 2 comes August 16 and if you vote for one you get the better of the two parts but not their combined box office)
Despicable Me 4 - July 3
Twisters - July 19
Deadpool 3 - July 26
Alien Romulus - Aug 16
Kraven the Hunter - Aug 30
FIELD – any film not named above

is possible someone will want to take 2 or 3 or even 5 films from the field. Please indicate in a post if that is your intention otherwise it will be assumed that you field pick only means 1 film not named.

Lastly, I strongly encourage folks to post their picks and talk about their rationale for each pick. Conversation is what makes this fun!!

I think there are 3 locks here... but picks #4 and #5 are super, super hard and I could make a really good case for at least 8 of these choices right now.
