Thread: UCLA vs. TEXAS

    UCLA vs. TEXAS

#2 UCLA is down by 12 to #8 Texas at the half in Pauley Pavilion. Not sure if Texas can keep it up in the second half, but as to their dominance in the first half, the crowd celebrated when UCLA cut the lead to 11.

My impression is that the score has more to do with Texas being better than expected than UCLA being over-rated. Augustin, Abrams, and Mason are a pretty impressive backcourt. Texas is one of very few teams in the country that Duke might choose not to run with.

Kevin Love is a large man, but I think we got the right guy out of Oregon.

Hmmm. I wonder if the posters of the UCLABasketballReport are screaming about stall ball. Or is it that UCLA always plays so slowly.

UCLA at the line for a One and One with 29.8 seconds left... MISSED! Texas going for the win.

    Question is

Does Texas pass Duke in the rankings now? Shouldn't but may.

    Yes, they should.

    That was an awesome ending.

Is UCLA still playing without their star guard?

If so this is not that big of an upset.

UCLA's offense is predicated on swinging it around the perimeter and taking a last second shot. I don't spend much time on UCLA boards, but most of my conversations about the team mention how much I dislike the offense (almost as much as Howland's time out strategy).

Yeah, he was back, but he didn't play well. This was his first start this season, although he played ~20 minutes in his first appearance in the last game. Augustin looked good out there.

I agree! I have now seen parts of 3-4 UCLA games and have come away wondering why there was so much hype about Love. He seems to a have good vision and passing ability as well a a great feel for the game but he kinda reminds me of Bryant "Big Country" Reeves. That's not to say that he won't be a good if not great college player, with his size he'll do quite well at the college level. Watching him though is a little tough he seems to be in slow motion half the time.

Kyle is much more dynamic and fun to watch. I also think his upside is higher. Just one man's opinion.

Wow. "Big Country" Reeves. There's a name I haven't heard in a long time. Good one, and from what little I've seen (and it's admittedly not enough to draw a strong conclusion), I agree with your analogy.
