I'm not sure if anyone has heard about this, but it's definitely a worthy cause and worth a couple minutes of everyone's time. I heard about this through a speech teacher at the University of Georgia because he is encouraging everyone to vote.

The Volvo for Life Awards seem to be a recognition for people that are heroes in their communities for taking up a certain cause. I'm posting this message to bring everyone's attention to an individual named Darius Weems, who is a native of Athens, GA. Darius has a fatal disease that will probably take his life in the next couple years, but he has dedicated his life to bringing awareness to muscular distrophy. The thing that makes this personal for me is that many UGA students, Speech Communication majors in particular, have been a huge part of Darius' life and helping him in his fight. I would encourage everyone to read Darius' story on this webpage and consider voting for him for this award. However, there are many other worthy candidates and I would encourage everyone to consider voting for any of them.
