    Stranded on a desert island

    What would you bring with you if you were stranded on a desert island?
    Here's what an Atlanta psychologist has to say about your answer(s):

    Assuming there is food to hunt/fish:
    * knife
    * flint
    * first aid stuff

    ahh screw it, I'll bring a laptop with a satellite modem and make it a vacation

    ---added this later---
    I didn't realize it was just 1 item. I'll stick with the knife... maybe this one

    --- and this later ---
    Bible? Sounds good, as long as it's hollowed out and contains the three items I mentioned above :-D

    I'm putting aside all the practical stuff like a knife or a boat. I'm assuming that I can find food and shelter so . . .

    I'd like to have a copy of the complete works of Shakespeare.

    Spoiler tags: Resigned, yep that's me.

    Yeah, you could certainly keep a fire going for a long time...

    I would have said yarn and some knitting needles but that's three items and I would eventually run out of yarn. I'm looking for something to DO.

    I would just like to point out that 3/274 (or approximately 1.1% of) respondents said they'd like to bring Wilson.
    Anyone else who has been selected as the one thing that perfect strangers would like to take to a desert island, please post now.
    Otherwise, I win.

    Too bad you can't choose a person because the best survival tool would be John Locke!

    Seriously though, unless I had a boat or something that could get me off the island, I'd be screwed no matter what one item I had with me on the island.

    Is your moniker really in tribute to the Castaway volleyball?

    (I ask in part b/c I've been diving off the reefs next to the "Castaway Island," and was really disappointed to learn that the closest island was a short 15 min. swim away, and had a really nice resort, a helipad, and internet access. Kind of ruined the movie for me, b/c I can no longer suspend disbelief.)

    Fake Steve Jobs had a great response to the Zune guy but unfortunately removed it for some reason. An old friend of mine (and a Microsoft employee on the Visual Studio team) managed to capture and repost, so I give you Apple's analogue, the Cutter Girl. Fake Steve Jobs is the best / worst.

    OK, but still...the only way I am going to be standed on a desert island is if Charlize Theron agrees to be stranded with me. Then, the only thing I need is a toothbrush.

    Not really. It's just my name. Post-Castaway, I've gotten countless "WILSON!!!"s.

    Red face One thing?

    If I can only choose ONE thing, ut would be a box of books to read.

    If it's more than one, I would add my swiss army knife, a flint for fire, a tarp for shelter, my fishing pole & lures/flies, toothpaste, and sunscreen/chapstick.

    Hitting the way back machine on this one, because Zune tattoo guy now says 'no mas.' He's covering his tattoos and taking a long look at some of the Zune competition.

    I am done. I have had the Zune since day 1 and have noticed little improvement. I have tried my best to support them every step of the way but the recent Xbox Live announcement at E3 made me lose it. To not include Zune Marketplace or the ability to load videos from Xbox Live to your Zune made me finally give up. I am in the works of figuring the best way to get a new tattoo to cover the logo on my arm. Thanks for all the harsh comments and you will see very little of me anymore.
    A solid black Apple logo should cover each Zune tattoo nicely, methinks.
