I'm glad we didn't have to unretire any jerseys this year.

Thanks Paul. To drag part of a discussion from the college changes thread into this one, I have two wishes. One related to this thread and one related to that thread.

    1. I wish we would go back to not using the Number 1 jersey. Just take it out of the mix. Use the 0 but not the 1.
    2. It is way, long, incredibly (pick a word) overdue for the NCAA to allow teams to use the numbers 6 thru 9 to be used as jersey numbers. It is just dumb to not allow them. The NBA refs and officials at the scorers tables seem to have no issues managing games with those numerals in the mix. With schools retiring numbers it really limits the available numbers, especially for Duke. At a bare minimum at least allow jersey;s 6, 7, 8, 9. That would give schools 4 additional numbers at least.

Shouldn’t Jones be #1? After all, that’s his position!

in baseball, the Yankees were the first team to wear numbers, and they were assigned by the player’s number in the batting order, at least for the starters. That’s why Ruth wore 3 and Gehrig 4!
    Ozzie, your paradigm of optimism!

Go To Hell carolina, Go To Hell!

I don't see 9F listed. Oh wait, that's Ozzie's number (mine, too, for the record). Never mind.

[redacted] them and the horses they rode in on.

Sounds like the whole Javin/Zion number conflict got worked out. And I think it’s awesome that Baker’s number is a “Baker’s dozen” 8-)

I think I see where you're headed with not allowing the number 1 - but maybe elucidate a bit...

The Duke #5 jersey has served me well over the past few years... I believe it was originally a Rodney Hood jersey but I like that it keeps being relevant for most years .

I can think of one very good reason for Tre Jones to wear #5 . . . .

Anything's possible. I think Joey was probably a Duke fan growing up, but he was only age 3 to 6 during JJ's career at Duke. (And in JJ's NBA career, he only wore #4 with the Clippers).

I like the Baker's Dozen explanation better.

    Well, 9F is Hexadecimal for 159. 1+5+9 = 15 = Alex O'Connell!

It seems that the #15 jersey for Duke basketball has been of secret importance all along.
