A true legend and a gentle soul.

His wife shopped in the grocery store where I worked in high school. She had a back issue and had trouble lifting groceries. I would make sure I helped her whenever I saw her in the store, and she always tried to tip me (and WAY too generously) for helping her load groceries into her car. She always seemed surprised that even high school kids respected her husband so much, they wouldn't take a tip for helping her.
He's just a part of what makes Pittsburgh and Pittsburghers so great.
Reminded me of an old song by Pittsburgh bar band legends The S.P.U.D.S.

"I want to be like Bruno Sammartino, rough and tough, bad enough, known around the world..."
