Pick the first day of the ACC tournament

I hadn't seen anyone post an ACC tournament pick thread other than the bracket challenge for the whole tournament http://www.dukebasketballreport.com/...read.php?t=284

I wanted to pick based on results day by day. So, here are my first day picks.

    12:00 - #8) Clemson vs. 9) FSU - FSU

    2:00 - 5) Maryland vs. 12) Miami - Maryland

    7:00 - 7) Duke vs 10) N.C. State - Duke

    9:00 - 6) Georgia Tech vs. 11) Wake Forest - GT

    What are your picks?

Fsu > Clempsun by 10-15 or so
UMiami > Md... yes UMiami will win and it won't be that close
    GIT > Wake comfortably
Us > Ncsu ugly game that barely gets out of the 50s

That is a good pick, Hurley. I thought about UM but I don't know if they can stop Maryland. They are playing very well right now.

Riverside6, I registered for your challenge. We'll see how I do! I still wanted to do a daily pick em'.

That's cool, I just wanted to make sure everyone knew about it since its free and all.

Here's mine for what it's worth (although its on the front of my site)...

    FSU by 4
Maryland by 1 (close game expected; Miami will slow the tempo)
Duke by 11 (I expect Duke to control this game from the start)
    Georgia Tech by 7

Clemson - I feel they are going to keep rolling along after that win at VT, they also beat FSU twice in the regular season

Maryland- clearly the team with the most momentum going into the ACC tournament

Duke- we will come out with intensity in response to GH's suspension

Georgia Tech- has trouble playing away from home but I suspect Hewitt will have them ready for this game, they need wins in the ACC tournament to make it to the NCAA

It is so hard to beat a team 3 times in the same season. The game was a competitive one for sure. Hopefully Clemson gets to dance.

Great pick, hurleyfor3. I'm .500 so far today.

hurleyfor3, why didn't you pick Miami on my site!?!

You would be in the lead, as no one got both games correct.

For an encore, I like Fsu over Carolina tomorrow.

I guess I wasn't really thinking about that game. Maryland has always struck me as being streaky by nature and prone to big comedowns after beating Duke.

Another thing is that it generally does not pay to be risk-seeking in the early rounds of a tournament pool. If you believe a favorite will lose, it is better simply to keep it from advancing too far than to predict a flashy upset.

I'm sure you noticed I'm the only one picking BC to win. When I was filling out your bracket I was focusing more on unc and believe(d) unc will have a tough time beating both fsu and bc.
