I like your line of thought but the problem is should Duke and KU face in the E8, who do you think will buy up all the tickets from the Orange and the Tigers?

MSU did a good job of ball movement against the zone, using the high post as a pinball machine to open shooters. But, they had close to zero movement of the players, almost never tried to overload one side of the zone or the other, and failed to get open corner threes as a result.

Great observation, especially re: the ‘86 team...one example of many (too many?) Final Fours where a semifinal should have been the championship game.

Yes good point. I was thinking Clemson will have the home court advantage and pull the upset to get to the E8.

    Clemson looking stout so far.

According to FiveThirtyEight.com Villanova is favored to win it all at 23%. Duke is next most likely at 17%. Kentucky is creeping into contention with everyone falling down on that side of the bracket.

Maybe Izzo didn't want to face K. Again.

I haven’t done it yet because I don’t wanna step on toes, but why isn’t there a Duke/Syracuse thread yet?

I tried to start one but it was not able to submit it. We are 11.5 point favorites over Syarcuse... the over under is 133.5 points so the bookies are expecting a score of around 72/73 to 61.

Clemson anybody? Holy moly. Can't say I saw this coming. Looks like it'll be an ACC reunion in Nebraska (but with 95% Kansas fans in the crowd unfortunately). Of course, there is still 16 minutes left which is an eternity but it's a 32-point game.

UNC and U.Va out but Syracuse and Clemson to the Sweet Sixteen. Who had that in their bracket?

Also shows that judging a conference based on NCAA performance is tough and likely inaccurate with the randomness and small sample size. Is the ACC incredible (with a team going 8-10 making the Sweet Sixteen and defeating a team with 4 losses all season) or terrible (UVa result)?

It's a good measure over time, but you're right, in a single year it can be misleading about as often as it can be reflective.

amen, and I've made that very point about the 86 team several times recently....I would say we escaped that in 91 because after UNLV - Duke was just way better than Roy's Kansas team, who had beaten Dean's Myth in the other semifinal...but Duke was exhausted in that game due to UNLV.

Those two games in 14 were epic

    Here’s a question...

How is it that there were 9 ACC tourney teams, and 4 of them were placed in the Midwest, while only one was placed in the East, and only 2 in the South and West. Lazy committee, perhaps?

Raise your hand if you had Clemson collapsing after Grantham was lost for the season.

    *raises hand*

I'm still waiting. It's sure to happen any moment now.

The zone is not easy to prepare for. It forces players to think and thinking is bad in basketball.
