I don’t follow college baseball that much. I have noticed that our third baseman is also one of our closers (Labosky). How often do you see a position player also pitch?

Great! I could use some baseball as I recover from last night's exhausting hoops game.
Nothing incites bodily violence quicker than a Duke fan turning in your direction and saying 'scoreboard.'
In fact you see it all the time in college ball, and I'd guess (I have no data) that private schools like Duke do it more than state schools. The NCAA limit for baseball scholarships is surprisingly low, only 11.7 total spread among no more than 27 guys. So recruiting versatile guys is absolutely critical..since Duke tuition is so high, even guys on half scholarships have a big bill to pay...at state schools, not so bad...so I suspect Duke needs to recruit versatility even more than most schools since state schools probably can fill out their rosters more easily (partial scholarships are far less costly).
