In last week's poll, UVA was 18, and Duke was in the mentions with 18 votes.
Will taking this series put Duke in the top 25?

I doubt we will be ranked Monday. We're not on anyone's radar screen in baseball yet. Beating UVA at home is a big step toward another NCAA bid. We need to beat UNC and NCSU as well.

BTW I listened to Pollard's post game interview today, and that man knows the game, knows all the players from all the teams, and apparently did a great job at App State before coming here. I know last season was disappointing, but I think Duke has a good coach there.

We're very lucky to have Pollard. He's a great fit as a Davidson grad and native. Duke baseball might be one of the hardest jobs in P5 sports. You have academics, finances, facilities, and local interest working against you.

All Duke coaching jobs are hard. Due to K's success, and how that's helped spawn some success in other sports, I think most people have no idea how the institutional structural and demographic deck is stacked against Duke. A small school, with a small local alum base, just a few miles from a massive "University of " that bears the states name. That makes it an uphill battle for local interest every single day.

K's career has certainly leveled this playing field to a degree, but it's still a bit of a miracle when we beat UNC in football and some other sports due to the baked in advantages they have.

On the flip side, some Universities, like say the U of Texas, have incredible inherent advantages. Why they aren't in the Final Four and FB playoffs every year is a head scratcher.

Duke plays a two game series against Yale today and tomorrow. The Bulldogs are 2-7 on the season with one of their wins being over Virginia:

Duke improves to 14-3 with a 10-2 win over Yale. Next up is a 3 game weekend series with Miami.

I really hope we can get some fans out to the games this weekend. Miami always has a loud crowd and I’d love to return the favor. Looks like great weather, and you can’t beat the stadium. I get that it’s tough for students, but you’d think more local fans would show up to support them. And they serve beer!
