There goes any hope of hosting an NCAA Regional.

There is still plenty of hope for hosting regional. Duke also has a chance for a good showing at ACC tourney at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. And Duke will finish in top 4 in 2nd best conference.

I think you may be right that there's a chance for the regional - but now it would require more success in the ACC tournament than it would have before the last two debacles...our second 3 game losing streak late season.

Need to win today. If we lose and Louisville wins, they would pass us for 4th in conference. (Clemson/UNC, NC State, then hopefully Duke)

Today is especially huge for ACC Tourney. There are 4 pools with 3 teams in each pool. You play the other 2 teams in your pool. Whoever goes 2-0 advances to semifinals. If all 3 teams in the pool go 1-1, the highest seed advances. So that is why finishing 3rd or 4th place overall in ACC means Duke would be top seed in our pool.

If Duke is #4 (likely), the #4, #5, and #9 teams are in a pool.
If Duke ends up #3, Duke would have the #6 and #10 teams in our pool. That is actually possible. NC State is up on FSU 4-3 in 8th inning. But if FSU wins the game (and Duke beats Ga Tech today), then Duke will finish 3rd in ACC. Go Seminoles!

But very important that Duke is taking care of business today regardless. Duke needs a good start to ACC tourney, and a good day today helps our odds!

I love the move to bring in DeCaster.

Jarvis was looking very shaky with Ga Tech on first and 2nd in 6th with nobody out. Pitching change immediately to DeCaster and we escape inning up 11-3. Nobody underestimating Jackets' ability to rally big innings, and we're not messing around with that today.
