Last time I was in Detroit (closing of the old Tiger Stadium) all I heard from locals was how I should go to the casinos in Canada.

We went to a Lions game a few years ago and stayed at the Book Cadillac Westin which was very nice and a very short walk from the stadium. We are trying to figure out whether we can make this trip - unfortunately not looking good due to previous commitments.

But while you can absolutely say OSU losses are absolutely worse than Alabamas. You also can't dispute that OSU's best wins are way better than Bama's. Whether or not you agree, I'm sure the committee agrees with its own ratings and by that measure, OSU has THREE wins better than ANY win Alabama has. I don't think FSU being bad matters too much. It's not a good win any way you slice it. If the knock on Bama was that they scheduled soft (like people said about Washington last year) that would be one thing, but the knock is that they didn't beat anyone who's that great, which is a different thing. While people make fun of the Merced game, no one said "they didn't try to play anyone". I don't know what they'll ultimately do, but it's certainly not "yeah, they won't do that" kind of dismissive.

Again, at the end of the day, given all of the inputs, the bottom line was 1L < 2L. Quite frankly, I'd love to see a play-in game between Alabama and OSU--it would be entertaining as heck. But at the end of the day, I think the committee got it right (and it's a bit of poetic justice to see Meyer and OSU on the outside looking in the year after they set the precedent for a non-conference-champion being selected as the fourth team).

Sagarin ranks them at #68 compared to Duke at #38. NIU went 8-4 including a 3 point loss (23-20) at home to Boston College, but the game was at the beginning of the season when BC was struggling. NIU will be a solid opponent. I expect Duke will be favored.
