Aaaaand the winner of week 3 of our contest...
Jason Evans who went 17-8 and earned 3290 cyber bucks. He narrowly edged out LasVegas_Duke who was 13-6 for a +2920.
By the way folks, it is never too late to join the contest. You are allowed to pick things up in the middle if you want. There is no disadvantage to joining at this point. Heck, players like Rasputin, PackMan97, Hingeknocker and several others would love to start over from scratch as they are currently in negative territory (though, as a whole, we are doing quite well thus far).

I've clawed my way back to the positive side of the ledger with a 9-5 performance that earned 1,750 fake dollars.

I need to translate this into real world results here locally. I told my wife we could be up big if she would let me bet! Although, it’s a ton easier to slap down $500 of fake money! I also attribute my success to a ton of luck. Duke and MSU really came through for me.

I'm waiting for the all-important Pitt/High Point game and betting my Mother-in-law''s house on High Point !
Both of them ! Thank You !
Just be you. You is enough. - K, 4/5/10, 0:13.8 to play, 60-59 Duke.
You're all jealous hypocrites. - Titus on Laettner
You see those guys? Animals. They're animals. - SIU Coach Chris Lowery, on Duke
I don't bet nearly as often but the bets I do make have been great. 8 and 1 on the season with 2070 fake dollars.
So does anyone here use actual betting sites with real money? I've been thinking about trying it but wasn't sure how safe they were.

There is a site that reviews sportsbooks, like how Rotten Tomatoes reviews movies. Google "SBR". If you choose an A or A+ rated book, you won't have any problems.
BUT...
Don't do it! An 8-1 run is really meaningless (too small a sample) and you could easily be below .500 by the end of the season. Track yourself over two seasons' worth of games and see if you're still a winner.
I estimate less than 1% of bettors can truly beat the books and their vigorish. You're almost certainly not one of them (no offense, just going with probability here).
