I went to a new (since October) beer bar in Atlanta, called The Porter. (I am visiting my in-laws this week.) EarlJam, Lavabe and other Atlantans should check this place out. I highly recommend it.
The Porter is in Little Five Points, and shares the vibe of the area. Like Decatur's Brickstore Pub, the Porter has an outstanding beer selection. Check out the menu here:

I started the evening with a German sampler. (Franziskaner Dunkelweizen, Spaten Optimator, and I think Celebrator Doppelbock). My wife had a local sampler, and a friend had a Belgian sampler. (All sampler consist of 3 4 oz. beers.) The sampler is a nice way to taste a variety of beers. I liked the Frankziskaner the best of my sampler. From the local sampler, I give big props to the Red Brick Oatmeal Porter.
After the samplers, I had a Great Divide Hercules Double IPA. It was my first time having this beer (from Denver). I enjoyed it very much, but was the only one at the table who did. (No other hopheads with me.) I finished the evening with a Lagunitas Pilsner, which was okay but nothing to write home about.
The Porter also has good food. I especially recommend the vinegar and salt popcorn, which is a wonderful accompaniment to the beer.
