    Wicked Weed Brett Tyranny

Red IPA with Brett and Tart Cherries

Smells of barn with a hint of cough syrup / cherry.

    Really tart and funky finish.

Not sure I've had "plain" WW Tyranny.
    This version is wonderful.

The fruit is pretty subdued- maybe it cuts the funk a little bit and smoothes the edges a bit.

    Anchor Christmas
Sam Adams Old Fezziwig (do they still make this?)
    Saranac Caramel Porter
    Lagunitas Sucks
    Bells Winter White
    Lagunitas Brown Shugga

    The Bruery Christmas series
    Samichlaus

I am sure there are others I am missing.

If we start digging into rare/hard to get beer, Mother Earth Silent Night is the top of my list (and still probably my favorite beer, period.) .
Bold statement. I need to try to find that one.

They might put a couple Old Fezziwigs in the SA 12 pack winter sampler, along with 2 @#$% decidedly non-Christmas Bahston Lahgers.

    Delirium Noel
    Corsendonk Christmas Ale
    Scaldis Noel

Sierra Nevada Celebration and ABC Ninjabread Man come to mind for me.
Sam Smith's Winter Welcome (a rare beer in clear glass I'll endorse)
    Avery Old Jubilation

    Great sub-thread, Matt!

I can't believe you're omitting Love Ninja, but maybe that's more of Valentine's Day ale .

Bruisin Ales will likely have some.
Buy as much as you can.

I did a 4 year vertical (2010,11,12,13) that was spectacular.

    I think I have a couple 2014s and 2015s.
Local stores here generally limit one 750ml bottle per purchase, which makes it a pain to get in any quantity.

Not cheap at $20/bottle, worth every penny.

I still have not made the Kinston pilgrimage to Mother Earth and Chef and the Farmer. Someday.

No, no, no, no..... I am down to 180 after having another Cold Mountain and a Red Nose. No more!!! (Going over to Highland for some kind of a small glass art festival with beer and food in a few minutes, however.)

Still waiting for it to get cold around here to drink most of the winter brews I have been collecting, however.

On the second day of Advent my true love gave to me...

a He'brew Hannukah Channuka Pass the Beer

Dark ale, 8 malts, 8 hops, 8% ABV

Smells like brown sugar and maybe a bit of grass.

Wow- an imperial Pete's Wicked Ale is about the best I can describe.
Leaves a thick coating on hop residue on the tongue.

    Tasty! Find some!

My mistake, make that a Narwhal---not barrel aged. (Still have a number of Narwhal barrel aged to get into, however.)

Got back from Highland tonight in time for the game after having some very nice Thunderstruck Coffee Porter there.

I picked up three bottles at Stella Brew in W-S 10 days ago or so, and just saw that they have it on their current growler list. I'm happy to acquire (although, as devildeac's two bottles of Sexual Chocolate that have been in my "storage area" since June will attest, the post-acquisition *delivery* can sometimes prove a challenge).
"Amazing what a minute can do."

Whew, good to hear. I hadn't forgotten. I may have our son call you to pick up sometime before Christmas. Hoping for a trip to Bottle Mixx tomorrow for a tulip of Bourbon County Rye whiskey barrel aged stout on blackberries, sour cherries and candied cherries. Anyone want to join me?

    WnB (2014)-Terrapin Beer Company

More commonly known as Wake-n-Bake (or Why Not Breakfast as queried on their web site), this coffee oatmeal imperial stout is part of their Monster Beer Tour series. Poured an almost black hue and brewed with a variety of international coffee beans from Jittery Joe's Coffee in Athens, GA. My first thought is pass the cream and sugar but it really needs neither. Heavy aromas upfront of dark roasted coffee and some semi-sweet chocolate. Moderate, tan, foamy head with tastes pretty much the same as the scents with some slightly burned notes and booze. Moderate bitterness at 50 IBUs and potent at 9.4% ABV. Nugget hops are the only variety listed and there are a lot of grains as expected, including 2-Row Pale, Crystal 85, flaked barley, flaked oats, Chocolate, Black, roasted barley. The oats lend a smooth, almost silky mouthfeel. Outstanding liquid dessert or as a beverage to be sipped slightly chilled with a decadent double or triple chocolate dessert. This was a trader from our last tailgate but I can't recall who traded it, so many thanks and a embarrassed apology for not remembering who was kind enough to include this in our session.

Pretty typical Terrapin Beer Company label/artwork:

Have him call me, although next week I'll be in Hartford.

Speaking of which: Any good beer local to Connecticut? Not-A-Dime-Back Dunkel or some such?

He'll be back in WS late next week I think after completing some interviews up in the OH/MI/NY area. Don't know any local CT brews but if you go to a local bottle shop/tavern, finding one of these on draft or in their standard 500 ml bottles would be worth a purchase or three:

Saw both of those at Bottle Mixx yesterday prior to your special purchase. You can check tomorrow if you join me for some Bourbon County Stout Rye stuff .
