What happened to it? I believe that was a delivery from me a while back. Outstanding high gravity beer.

I bought a six pack for the first time in 3-4 years. However, I think my choice has been described as swill in the past in this thread.

You could always post the review here:

I reviewed the thread and found where you said to buy it in cans or on draft but avoid the bottles at all costs.

    I went with the bottles.

    Haw River Pound of Flesh

Bourbon barrel aged blonde sour ale aged on watermelon rinds, white peppercorn and white tea leaves

Smells pretty rotten- very sour, salty and maybe a whiff of pickled watermelon.

Love Ninja took a sip and said no thank you.

I taste a very mild watermelon jolly rancher with a salty and sour finish.

Whatever spice/heat the peppercorn add, or the white tea flavour are too delicate for my palate.

A bit pricey for what it is, nonetheless a great way to celebrate a soccer victory.

    Cheers!

    "Beer, kitty, kitty."

    An amber IPA.

Thanks to August West for this 12 ounce trader last weekend.

Poured a light, golden-amber into a pint glass. Modest head and mild piney and grapefruity aromas. More grapefruit than pine on the palate (thankfully) with some watermelon rind and a bit of caramel sweetness. IBUs at 58 and ABV of 5.8% so reasonably balanced. Sipped last PM without any foods but would make a nice pairing with grilled fare or mildly spicy Asian cuisine. Ingredients below:

"Brewed with Pale, Caramel 80, Caramalt, Munich 10 Malts; Apollo, Amarillo Hops; English Ale Yeast."

    A Scotch ale.

The 3rd installment from August West. Thanks!

Pour was a medium amber hue with a small to medium head. Toasted, bready nose and milk chocolate, medium caramel, minimally bitter/earthy hops and smoked/toasted cereal on the tasting front. IBUs 20, about as expected from the style with an ABV of 6.9%. There aren't many Scotch ales on the market and this is a good one. Would pair with ribs, brisket and grilled fare. Ingredients:

"Brewed with English Pale, Cara, Crystal, Peat Smoked Malt Malts; Apollo, CTZ Hops; English Ale Yeast."

I'd have another couple of these as it's a good example of a style I've liked for many years.

The last of the litter from August West. Thanks again!

As one might expect from the name, it's a stout. Deep dark brown pour with a small, short-lived head. Espresso and burnt almond aromas with bittersweet chocolate, dark roast coffee and slightly blackened whole grain toast taste sensations, all about what I'd expect from the style. Mouthfeel was a bit thin but it's not a thick, chewy imperial stout. IBUs on the web site at 30, perhaps a bit low for the style and the ABV is 5.7%, pretty standard. Not quite a dessert beer but this would match nicely with smokey, grilled offerings or shredded beef tacos or quesadillas.

It’s been in the fridge since delivery.

Just an unlucky bad bottle? Don’t know.

I will ask them about it. Do you remember the date on the bottle, by chance?

Well it took 2 months for the distribution to get out..

    I was tempted to buy two 12packs, I'm happy I didn't.
I've only tried one so far it was the Tea Party Saison, brewed in collaboration
    with Woods Brewing.

    It's a 7.4 ABV with 25 IBU's
It's brewed with Tea,corriander, and Grains of Paradise.

It's not that it has a poor taste, it's just nothing special.
Pretty Bland, not ycch beer but not what I expected.

If there is anything interesting in the rest of the offerings
    I'll post my thoughts.
    Let's go DUKE !!!

I think it was 2015. The bottle has been recycled.

Unless you feel especially excited about it, don’t sweat it. Beer happens!

Saranac High Peaks Single Malt Scotch Ale
    Aged in Bourbon Barrels

    I think 2015, not sure.

Poured all but about the last half ounce.

Smells like thick, rich, gooey caramel.

Maybe the best Saranac beer I have ever had.

Creamy mouthfeel, sweet caramel start and middle, with an oaky finish.

The only thing that could have made this beer better would have been someone to share it with.

I’m really picky about Scotch ales.
Really Brueprint Edinbrue is the only one I have had that I would seek out.

I’d buy this Saranac offering by the case.
Sadly, this beer has been discontinued.

I'd enjoy reading any/all of your thoughts about the collection. Except the obligatory Boston Lager they include in every damn sampler they sell.

Quite a few I’d want to try.

The Haw River Blackberry, I did not enjoy this weekend. I was surprised.
