For those curious to see the excitment of auto racing without crashes, watching the last 8 laps of Talladega today should provide some insight. The bag and forth of the better line on the track, the importance of the draft, etc. was all on display.

That was a great finish!

Was it me or were the fans in the house Earnhardt built actually cheering for Jeff Gordon as he won? If so that is a major turn around from this past spring when they were throwing beer cans at him for breaking Dale's record. Could Junior Nation be embracing Gordon as they will be teammates?

I noticed that also, maybe there is a Junior halo now over his soon to be Hendrick teammates? My initial thoughts were they were just excited seeing the incredible racing over the last few laps irregardless of who won. In retrospect, you may be on to something.
