Looking for members of Tents #1

Hey all,

Just wondering who else on these forums are former (or current) members of Tent #1, and when you were?

I was in Tent #1 in 1995, front row over the D for the 102-100 game, sick and with a broken finger (broken that afternoon tossing a football in line.)

Any other #1s out there?

Duvall and I are from Tent 1 in 1997. Center court on the "D". I still get a nasty virus the first week of February every year as I did when tenting...


In 1995, I got thrown out of the front row of the student section facing the 2nd-half visitor free-throw line by some overanxious people and landed on the court right after Capel hit the shot. Shows up on the rarely rebroadcast ESPN2 version of the game. Still disturbing when I see it.

Tent 1 last year. I think we have a couple of DBR lurkers around from the tent. Obviously center court on the D.

Jason Evans and I (and some others) were in "Tent #1" when that meant that you were the first group to show up in line and the rest of the line said, "Hey cool, you're first--when did you get here? Want a beer?" No wristbands, no line checks, no line monitors (sorry JBDuke et al). I guess I'm talking February 1986 for the Oklahoma game, after Carolina had lost to Len Bias in the Dean Dome. After Johnny D and the boys won, we were #1 for the first time in a long time--perhaps ever. Alas, this was the beginning of the end, the beginning of Media Slutdom, as about a hundred of us were on the front page of USA Today, and we caught the fever of fame.

Now pardon me as I go shovel some snow so my kids won't have to walk uphill both ways to school.

I was in Tent 1 for Carolina in 2002. It was senior day for Matt Christensen's senior day, but we also said goodbye to JWill and 'Los as they had declared their intentions to enter the draft. My friends and I had a chest-painted tribute to them. We didn't yet know that it would be Mike D's last game in Cameron as well. (I'm still a little bitter about that one, though I know I don't have a right to be.)

Carolina was down that year and we trounced them by 25, making it nine wins in the last ten games against UNC. JWill had 37. We completed the three-game sweep five days later in the opening round of the ACC tourney.

I was in tent #2 the next year, sadly.

Not bad, not bad, but I am surprised there aren't more... figured a former tent #1 person would definately be lurking around these areas! Are we missing some who haven't seen the thread yet I hope?

I was 2007 Lord Ash, not 2006 (well I guess 2006 for a couple days)
