The period when Dawkins and Amaker played (they were together 1984-86) is perhaps the peak of ACC basketball talent (according to no less an authority than Mike Krzyzewski) -- a period when top players stayed and matured physically.
OF, although I agree with you that the "teams" were better in those days, when players stayed for four years. I do believe that the skills of the players today are better -- year-for-year -- such as in the athletic, even acrobatic, shots around the basket. We didn't see those shots 30 years ago. Moreover, I believe the physical development of players is better, given the emphasis on training and nutrition that occurs prior to college.
