I didn't want to start a whole another thread... Another Big12 coach in the news, and this guy didn't even need a controversial columnist to bash his own players (ok, "critical opinions").

Not me. Yes, the coach was entitled to rebut the reporter, and to do so publicly. But he was way out of line for, as Sally Jenkins put it in a column today, repeatedly berating her for not being a mother.

I didn't hear it that way. I thought his point (albeit excitedly stated) was that if she had children she would empathize with the student and might have been more prudent with her words. I didn't think he was berating her for her status as a nonmother.

This would seem to have serious gambling implications if he makes injury information available to select people but not to the general public.

I cannot imagine the NCAA will take kindly to a coach selling inside info for $1200 a pop.

Apparently this is a little more widespread than I had realized.

For $40 you can get candid assessment of VT players from the coaching staff as well as insider injury information. Of course, I bet there are 11 other ACC football teams that subscribe to the site.
