Some football notes

Random notes from today's media conference.

Tielor Robinson underwent surgery this morning. Out indefinitely. TR didn't sound very positive about a return anytime soon. Ryan Radloff and Charles Robinson still out. Ben Loebner out for the season.

Duke coaches concerned with making sure players put last week behind them and focus on Navy. TR-"It's a great win but it's just one game. Right now it's the previous game and it has no bearing on the next game." Lots of mistakes Saturday, need to play much better against Navy, etc. Considering how infrequently Duke has won, this would seem to be a legit concern.

The key to beating Navy is discipline and assignment consciousness. When asked if having played Navy last season would help this week, TR responded "Most of these kids don't remember last week." He was joking. I think.

TR noticeably concerned with running game. Brought it up several times. he doesn't care if it's running-back-by-committtee or one guy, he just wants some production.

Clifford Harris is playing QB on the scout team this week.

TR identified Jones' last punt as a key play, pinning NW back. Nobody asked about the missed PAT. Dead horse and all that, I suppose.

Adam Goldberg mentioned that the team knew about the goal posts coming down before they left for the airport. The marvels of text messaging. Goldberg described coming back to a missing goal post as "nice" and he had a huge smile on his face when he said it. When asked if the win changed anything, he responded "not really. We're doing the same things we've always done, getting ready for the next game."

Both Goldberg and Thad Lewis mentioned a much more positive environment around campus this week. Lots of congrats. Some students/faculty care. Goldberg even mentioned a positive article in the Chronicle.

Thad claims that the one win makes the team hungrier for more. Let's hope.

That's a shame though about Robinson, as he is really an underrated player at FB.
