The Cardinals' top system prospect, Oscar Taveras, who got some time in the outfield this year, is dead in a car accident in the Dominican, according to his agent. Fox just reported this during Game Five.
I hardly got to know that kid (in a public way). He had a great smile.
I know how this board is frequently an environment of hatred and nastiness directed toward the Saint Louis Cardinals, but I would beg that the originators of this animus would actually show some human decency at this time.

What an awful tragedy. Terrible loss of a beautiful young man.
Nothing incites bodily violence quicker than a Duke fan turning in your direction and saying 'scoreboard.'
I am generally indifferent to the Cardinals. I do think they have the best uniforms in baseball.
But how could you think you would even need to write that? Under what circumstances would any Cardinals hater/non-liker not have human decency over the loss of life of someone so young in such a tragic way? This seems absurd and pretty offensive to anyone on the boards who has ever expressed negativity toward the Cardinals.

What happened to Tavares is a terrible tragedy. Judging by the reaction of his friends and teammates in both MLB and the Domincan, he was as good a teammate as prospect, which is saying a lot.
As for the rest of the post, only a Cardinal fan could make a call for mourning the death of one of their own at least in part about the moral superiority of the supposedly persecuted Cardinal fan base, all while having no idea why Card fans get mocked and derided not just here but all over the Internet

This is exactly the sort of hatred the haters have conditioned me to expect.
The girlfriend is dead, too. I think she was four years younger.
