'When I got on the bus for my first road game at Duke, I saw that every player was carrying textbooks or laptops. I coached in the SEC for 25 years, and I had never seen that before, not even once.' - David Cutcliffe to Duke alumni in Washington, DC, June 2013
That's good to hear. Academic abilities of individual players vary, of course, but Bishop Gorman is a well-regarded academic school, as well as being a powerhouse in both basketball and football. Their basketball coach, Grant Rice, has been at Bishop Gorman for 13 years and has bagged 9 state championships in that time. It'd be nice to establish a BG-->Duke pipeline.
Because Troy Brown, Jr.'s school (Centennial High) is public, it can't draw out of its geographic area quite the way BG can. But it's going to be fun to watch HS b-ball in Vegas this season. Based on your report, maybe for a stretch of seasons.
Troy was at Kansas for their big Late Night thing this past weekend, and the Jayhawks offered him. No surprise there.
