Well, I guess she needed the redshirt season anyway.

    Best of luck to Alexis.

    From Duke's release:

Rising Duke University women’s basketball junior Alexis Jones has announced she will transfer in order to be closer to home, which was announced Monday.

"I would like to thank Coach P for the opportunity to attend Duke University,” said Jones. “Due to injuries, I feel the need to be closer to my family."

A native of Irving, Texas, Jones competed in 64 contests over two years with the Blue Devils. She averaged 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.9 steals in 64 collegiate starts. The 5-8 guard suffered a torn ACL at Notre Dame last February and missed the final seven games of the season.

"We are very sad to see Alexis go because we love her and her family,” commented McCallie. “Given her significant surgeries and her chance to redshirt this year, we support her with this decision. We wish her the best as she heads home.”

Wow, that is a huge loss. Best wishes to her, I was so looking forward to seeing her run the team for a whole season.
Q "Why do you like Duke, you didn't even go there." A "Because my art school didn't have a basketball team."

Guess it's a really good thing Mercedes Riggs is coming to town. Even so, not counting Jenna we only have two people on the roster identified by "G" (plus three identified as "G/F" or "F/G"). Basically, we have three guards on the team next year, only one of whom has played a minute for Duke.

If Mercedes is capable of contributing more on the floor than Jenna, I'll eat my hat. We'll have one defensive specialist (Ka'lia) and and great shooting wing (Becca) to split PG duties. Ka'lia didn't get any minutes at PG until the team lost Chelsea, Alexis and Chloe - and then only when it was clear that playing point limited Tricia's opportunities to score. Becca is likely to have a similar experience at point as Tricia did - capable, but at the cost of her shooting, which is her greatest strength.

The team will have to play with three posts on the floor due to the dearth of guards. The coaching staff will have to retool things quite a bit to make this work.

We should spend lots of time every day in passing drills, in my opinion we have done to much dribbling.
A good passing team gives every one more touches and faster personal development.

You are talking about the structure of the offense, which hasn't changed significantly in 7 years. Good passing teams win Championships. In ineffective offenses, passes are called "turnovers." Our assist/turnover ratio is not good. Without a better designed offense, passing drills won't help.

The next time Alexis plays, it will be for Baylor. I wish her all the best, but I won't be rooting for her team's success; I loathe Kim Mulkey.
