2014 DBR Mock Draft sign-up thread

We've done it before... time to do it again.

    Here are the rules:

Post in this thread with the name of the team you want to "GM." No trading of picks or players is allowed, your job is just to draft, not reshape your entire roster. Once the mock draft starts, you will be expected to make your pick in a timely fashion. That means you have 6 hours to make a pick between the hours of 8am and 8pm ET (5am and 5pm PT). The clock will stop outside of those hours. On weekends, the clock time is doubled to 12 hours. You are obviously encouraged to pick faster than that, but if you fail to make your pick in your clock window, I will make it for you... and you don't want that!

DO NOT SIGN UP IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE LATE AND LAZY WITH YOUR PICKS!! Am I clear about that? If you keep us waiting and cause this process to lock up, the community will heap as much negative rep upon you as we can.

We are a little late getting to this this year so I really hope we have all the teams selected in just a couple days. I want to start the draft on Monday, perhaps sooner. We are only 2 weeks from the NBA doing the real thing and we need to get ours done first!!

For the next 3 days the first poster to claim a team will get that team. If we have not filled up the roster of GMs by Friday at midnight, I will open it up to allow folks to claim a 2nd or even 3rd team to GM... but I hope we will not have to do that. For now, sign up for one team. It should be a team you know fairly well so you can comment on the pick and why you made it as well as explain how it fits into your team's roster and future plans. We will pick both the first and second rounds of the draft (I hope).

OUR MOCK DRAFT WILL START AS SOON AS WE HAVE ALL THE GM SPOTS FILLED!! It is my hope we will begin on Monday, June 16th. That will give us 10 days to complete our mock before the NBA holds their actual draft. So long as we don't have a lot of lazy folks slow to get in picks, we should make it without too much trouble.

Here is the draft order. I will update this list as people pick teams so you can always look and see which teams are available to claim:

Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

As always, I will get the ball rolling by taking the GM job for my hometown Atlanta Hawks, owners of the 15th and 43rd picks.

Thanks for setting this up again, Jason. I was looking forward to it, not least because I need to atone for my egregious error in picking (albeit not #1 overall) Anthony Bennett last year. I think I picked him around 6 or 7 last year. Still, not good.

This year, I'm gonna GM the Utah Jazz.

I'm glad someone who is always on line took this team. The Sixers seemingly have every third pick in the draft!!

Since the Trailblazers have no picks (and LaRue Martin isn't on the board anyway), I'll take the Celtics at #6 and #17.

Ah nuts, pfrduke beat me to the Sixers.

Will go with the other team that was bleeding for Embiid, sorry for Jabari, and riggin' for Wiggins.

I'll take the Bucks if still available.

At the opposite end of things, I won last year's DBR Mock Draft by picking the eventual Rookie of the Year, Michael Carter-Williams, but for the New Orleans Pelicans. There's no draft pick for Unibrow Nation this year, but I'll stay in division as the mock GM for the San Antonio Spurs. They select #30, 58, and 60.

Spoiler alert: I'm totally drafting Johnny Manziel at #60. Can he play basketball? Don't care. Bringin' him back to Texas. Pop'll coach him up.
