Did the entire All-ACC Defensive first team make All-American Defensive First Team? If not explain to me how Cash can be Second-Team All America but NOT First team All-ACC?

Kind of like polls, it depends on who is doing the voting.

Because Cash probably wouldn't have been voted All-American had the vote been done by the coaches.

We are talking about subjective honors here, and we are talking about two different groups of voters. There is no reason to assume consistency across results.

For what it is worth, I think the coaches are closer to reality than the media (who had only one FSU guy on 1st team All-ACC defense).

    Yeah, probably so.

It's just great to see Duke football players earn these kind of honors, and it's great to see all-conference caliber guys like Jeremy Cash, Laken Tomlinson, Kelby Brown and Jamison Crowder are coming back to play next year. And that Cutcliffe guy...he's coming back next year, too, which bodes well.

This. Not to take anything away from Cash, but well, he's got two more years to get onto the National Radar.

Similarly, Laken Tomlinson was 2nd team by the media, but first team by the coaches.
