VB Continues to Rise in the Coaches' Poll

Duke moves up to number 15, due in large part to Weak Blue going oh for the weekend against FSU and Miami. The Devils are in the top 15 of the AVCA coaches' poll for the first time in six years.

Duke is all alone in first place in the ACC, a game ahead of FSU and two games ahead of Weak Blue. The Devils play at Maryland and Pitt this coming weekend. The Pitt match will be on ESPN3 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern on Sunday.

More importantly, their RPI is 14 (although it was 12 last week). The selection committee relies heavily on RPI. If the team can keep it up they might rate a first and second round home contest. Coach Nagel has done a fine job with what is still a relatively young team. Of course, last weekend Ali McCurdy broke the ACC record for digs. And earlier this year sophomore Elizabeth Campbell recorded 15 kills after spending the previous night in the hospital with kidney stones. One tough kid! It has been fun to watch this team grow this year.
