    A little preseason update:

Nolan Smith made his debut for Galatasaray as the Turkish giants play without Marty Pocius and most of their other players who were busy with international duties in a preseason tournament in Italy. Nolan had 16 points in a 72-69 win over Russia's Lokomotiv Kuban, as Ian Vougioukas added 12 points. In the loss, Anthony Randolph started making the transition from the NBA to Europe with 19 points and ex-Virginia Tech player Malcolm Delaney had 14 points.

DeMarcus Nelson missed out on a chance to play against his former team as he is recovering from a shin injury back in Athens.

Josh Hairston and his team have made the short trip from Switzerland to Italy. They lost to a pair of Belgian teams, 84-72 to Wolves Verviers-Pepinster yesterday and 93-57 to Spirou Charleroi today. Full stats are not available but the team recaps had good things to say about Josh.

Haley Peters is involved in preseason training in Spain as well.

On Sunday while it was still late Saturday in the United States, Kathleen Scheer and the Hobart Chargers played for the league championship. They jumped out to an early lead on the Brisbane Spartans, but could not get their shots to keep falling and lost 75-59. Kathleen had 9 points in 34 minutes. Izzy Chilcott had 11 points and Klara Wischer had 10 points and 7 rebounds. Kathleen stayed healthy for this SEABL season, allowing her to play in all of the games and it showed as she scored the fifth most points and grabbed the fifth most rebounds in the league and blocked the second most shots. Now she gets ready to make the quick transition from state league play back to the national league, where she will team up with Jess Foley in Adelaide.
