Yesterday I had to go to an oral surgeon to have two teeth extracted - one a fairky simple job, the other somewhat complicated. I was sedated, was there for a couple of hours, then my wife drove me home. I slept off the sedation until around 5:00 (love those drugs), then went downstairs and did the rinsing, ice pack, advil thing. Everything went a bit better than I had expected.
At 8:30 the phone rang. It was the oral surgeon calling me (from his home phone - I could tell from the caller ID) to check and see how I was doing. I wouldn't have been surprised by a call from his nurse at the end of the day from the office, but this took my by surprise - a pleasant surprise.
