    MLax: Duke 9, Loyola 8

It's too early to say that Duke turned its season around, but at a minimum the win over the defending NCAA champion Greyhounds at least stops the bleeding for now.

Dan Wigrizer did not dress, so Kyle Turri got the start in goal and did enough to secure the win. Haven't seen the official box score yet, but game tracker credited him with nine saves.

The midfield scoring drought continues, as all nine of Duke's goals were scored by attackmen or former attackmen converted to midfield. Jordan Wolf, Josh Dionne, Case Matheis, and Josh Offit had two each, and Christan Walsh had one.

Duke travels to Chapel Hell to face the Main Enemy on Wednesday night. The game will be shown on ESPNU.

Big, big win. Loyola is #4 and has been a thorn in our sides for years.

Sort of, although Duke has had the better of things--now 6-2 against Loyola since Danowski has been head coach; 15-10 overall (based on adding this win to the records noted in the pre-game information on goduke.com).

Do we know what Wigrizer's injury is? With 9 saves against 8 goals, facing a ranked team, Turri would seem to be performing as well as or better than Wigrizer so far, although it's hard to judge based on stats alone without seeing the games.

Paper listed Wigrizer's injury as "upper body". Could be a lot of things. Wiggie has shown the ability to really excel, but consistency has been a real problem.

Based on what I have seen over the years, I would completely agree with this assessment. Haven't seen anything this year except for the Md. game, in which no Duke goalies looked especially good.
