    The best basketball programs

Every five years, Basketball Times polls its contributors to rank the best programs and the best coaches in college basketball. Only schools that win two thirds percent of their games over the previous 10 years are eligible. On-court success, academic success and program cleanliness are all considered. This current rankings were just released:

Duke was voted the best program for the third straight time (which means 2002, 2007 and 2012). UNC came in second overall. Last place? the UCon-vict Huskies.

I was disappointed to see Mike Krzyzewski edged out by Tom Izzo as the best coach. K held the top spot five years ago.

Here's a New York Times blog entry with some coaches' comments on the poll:

Apparently, they don't care much for the acacemic/cleanliness issues

Nice to see Davidson ranked fourth, and McKillop ranked fifth among coaches.
