He was born in Scotland, and his mother was Scottish, but I could have sworn his father's family was all Irish.

I beg to differ, but these are Bond girls:

[redacted] them and the horses they rode in on.

I brlieve the OP said that that was the way Adele would remember it, not that she WAS a bond girl.

Absolutely agree that Fassbender would be a great Bond... the guy has a certain intensity that would be perfect for the role.

And yeah, Adele is a wonderful singer, but the term "Bond Girl" is typically reserved for the over the top bombshells that James beds. You know, girls like I'm a real wanker for saying this.I'm a real wanker for saying this.I'm a real wanker for saying this.I'm a real wanker for saying this.I'm a real wanker for saying this. Galore?

  6. #26
Or maybe I should have just said "Bond Girls are typically bombshells whose name can't make it past the DBR language filters?"

Come on, Adele is TWICE the woman that Olga Kurylenko or Halle Berry or even a pregnant Terri Hatcher were!

    Observations:

    1) I absolutely adore Adele. If this track were on 21 it would be about the eight best track.

    2) That said, it's pretty OK.

    3) That said, I'm down with the people who say Adele's sound isn't necessarily compatible with the Barry (RIP) sound of the Bond film scores. Something about this is mildly off.

    4) What most impresses me is that the song makes use of Adele's native North London dialect with /l/-vocalization and dark /l/s in the rhymes of the chorus: "skyFALL, when it crumBLES, we will stand TALL, face it ALL together / at skyFALL. That's some smart lyrics there, people.

    5) Compare that to the somewhat uncomfortably obvious rhyme in the first verse: "end, ten, then, again." This is fine, for a pop song, but no where near as clever as (4).

    6) The modulation at "crumbles" is very interesting to me. I'm not sure if it works for me but I respect it.

    7) The bridge makes a really weird feminine rhyme "security" with the masculine rhyme with "see and "me."

    199) I can't believe how much I'm looking forward to this film. I have no respect for your general crappy blockbusters, but the Bond franchise has managed to skate above that fairly well. Add to that, Skyfall has Sam Mendes directing (!) and Roger Deakins doing the cinematography. (He is the Coens' cinematographer). This is going to be a real film, not a crappy action flic.

Those are all nice points TB - I do think, however, that the song falls a little flat compared to CR and QoS. However, I at first thought the QoS theme was horrendous (I guess it probably still is, but I do like it now).

I can't believe this, but I don't remember the Casino Royale song. The latter was Jack White, right? I have neither on DVD, and should at least have the former.

funny, the rhyme of fall, all, tall, and fall seemed pretty uncomfortably obvious to me...and the crum-balls comes off a little forced to me too. agree the film should be fun!

Good catch. Are you sure it is 5, not 6? I know he was not in Chamber (#1) and Prisoner of Azkaban (#3) but hasn't he been in all the other ones? I am trying to recall if he was in Half-Blood Prince. The Malfoy family plays a prominent role in that film but am trying to recall what Lucious did.

Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

Wasn't Adele in one of the HP movies as Hagrid's gf?

Thank you. I agree that he was not in #1 or #3, as well.

I am pretty sure he was not in Half-Blood Prince, as his character was in jail at that point. IIRC, the movie starts with some shots of The Daily Prophet showing moving photos of his family leaving the trial. From that point on, Draco is without his father's help, but with the assistance of Snape's, and his unbreakable vow.

So yes, I believe he has been in 5 films: 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8. Despite his character's relatively short screen time in the films overall, Isaacs has a strong impact on the series. A tribute to his fine acting, no doubt.
