Dez Wells cleared by NCAA to play for Maryland

In a stunning decision...Dez Wells was cleared. Maryland becomes a much better team this season. This should make the Kentucky game a good one to watch.

Clear lesson - if a student-athlete wants to transfer to a school to pursue a different academic program, he should try to get arrested first to improve his chances of being allowed to play right away at his new school.

Morality aside, it gives the ACC six solid NCAA tournament caliber teams.

Who deserves to play basketball this year, Rodney Hood or Dez Wells? I fail to understand the circumstances.

I think the MD fans would tell you that the distinction was that Cincy wrongly forced the kid out -- IOW they made him transfer. It is a nuance, but an important one.

This clearly is upping MD's post-season expectations. Now let's see Duke crush them.

    Xavier.

But yes, it does seem to reward some somewhat sketchy behavior.

Of course, this could help Duke find another big for next season.

Innocent until Proven Guilty. Remember that. Being arrested doesn't make Dez Wells guilty of anything. Duke fans should know that after the LaX scandal.

The real lesson here is that the NCAA will sympathize if the transfer is caused not by a player's choice, but by a team forcing him out perhaps unjustifiably
<devildeac> anyone playing drinking games by now?
