    ACC Football Sept 15

Virginia Tech (#13) is losing 35-17 to Pitt halfway through the fourth quarter. Pitt had previously lost to the noted power, Youngstown State, and to Cincy. Wow!

    Wake getting annihilated by FSU.

UConn ahead of the Terps, 17-14 in the 4th.

Virginia Tech is genetically encoded to have one non-ACC stinker per season. In their DNA.

Good for FSU. Next week's game between FSU and Clemson will be the biggest ACC game in quite a few years, with the winner being a legit national title contender.

Not a Good Day for the ACC

Virginia Tech and Maryland lose. UNC trailing by 15 at Louisville. BC losing 6-3 after 1Q at Northwestern.

State (South Alabama) and Duke (NCCU) have different ideas.

Inside the ACC, in addition to FSU over Wake, Georgia Tech is steamrolling UVa.

The Umpteenth Annual ACC Football Nonconference Bedwetting Contest

Seems like there's usually a week in September when this happens.

    Pittsburgh 35*, Virginia Tech 17
    Louisville 39, UNC-Chapel Hill 34
    Connecticut 24, Maryland 21
    Northwestern 22, Boston College 13**

    * - not in ACC, yet
** - somehow, strangely, in ACC

The wins were mostly over I-AA teams whom the ACC should have killed.

    Sigh.

Well, one of those results delights me, one amuses me and a third I am at worst indifferent.

Yeah, OK. I'm still disappointed in Virginia Tech. All we got left is FSU now.

Clemson? The Big Ten has probably underachieved even more, so at least the ACC has company.

Unfortunately, only the VT result is a surprise. I picked Louisville, UConn and Northwestern in a couple of different football pools in which I participate. I really wish BC and Maryland were on our schedule this year. I'm not saying we would beat them, but I am saying we could beat them.

But Syracuse did beat Stony Brook. With a spirited comeback.

Same deal there, with Boomer Esiason slinging those lefty passes back in the day in front of capacity crowds.

I was disappointed with the attendance at the Duke/Central game last night, but at least there were 20K+ in attendance. I actually expected a full stadium with a large contingent of Eagle fans, but it just did not happen. Still, the Duke/Central crowd looked massive compared to the Miami, and Maryland stadium views.
