I do not mean to pry, but you don't by any chance happen to have six fingers on your right hand?

No, I haven't. Actually, I can't recall a single movie that I watched in 1987. That's 25 years ago, for Pete's sake. I actually had a job then, in Washington. That's enough of a fairy tale, that place. I'll check out the movie.

It truly shocked me to see RETROplex highlighting films from 1987, their Silver Anniversary!

I think TPB has weathered better than any of them.

Strangely enough, 1987 wasn't the only/last time you could have seen the movie...

But yeah, totally worth watching. Good ole-fashioned fun.

And the "inconceivable" reference you saw in this thread is just one of the countless fabulous pieces of dialogue from that movie.

MLT: a mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich. It's the greatest thing in the world, especially when the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe.

Well, not quite yet a quarter century. The movie actually was released in September of 1987 (September 25, to be exact), so THAT'S when it will turn 25.

I will say, though, that if I kept a running tally of the number of quotes from pop culture sources that I drop into everyday speech (often without realizing it), TPB would probably come in second behind The Simpsons. (Not sure what would be third. Maybe Caddyshack.) Heck, my life has been such a frenetic exercise in cat-herding the last couple of years that "Let me explain....no, there is no time, let me sum up..." and "Move the....thing! And the other thing!" are practically daily occurrences.

My wife got me this T-shirt last Christmas:

She has a matching one (pink) with Vizzini's head that has a big "Inconceivable!" with "I do not think it means what you think it means" in small print underneath (couldn't find it on google image search).

And the next time we get to discussing great Academy Award crimes around here, let's not leave out the fact that the Academy voters picked that saccharine dreck "I've Had the Time of My Life" from Dirty Dancing over this song.

Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line"! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha...
