I believe there is one third voting by coaches, and one third by media know nothings. A close online vote may not stand up to the others.
I think you are right about how the decision is made. So the online vote can't win the award. But winning the online vote keeps someone in position to win if they get enough of the other votes.

The online vote is probably also a good test of where to spend marketing dollars - a litmus test of fan bases.

Excellent point. While it's clear that having fans vote provides brand exposure for award sponsor Lowe's, it hadn't occurred to me that it also provides some specific and potentially useful information as well.

It'll be a photo finish. CJ is only up 0.1% now. We need to be creative until midnight.

Down by 0.2 now - lots of serious ballot stuffing going on.

Well, the voting is over, but I can't see the final results. I assume, from the latest posts, that CJ came in second due to a last-minute voting surge from the Irish. Regardless, CJ has had a great season.

I'm going to unstick the thread now.

The good news is, even if C.J. came in second, this is only one third of the voting, with media and coaches doing the other parts. So, assuming the tally is cumulative and not winner-take-all, C.J. is still in a strong position to compete for the award.

    Thank you

By chance I learned of this forum thread and just wanted to say thank you all for voting and doing everything you could to get CJ in first. Unfortunately, I do not know what the final tally was. Fan voting is 1/3 of the total vote so he is still in the running. Winner is announced Memorial Day weekend. Thank you again, Doreen Costabile

CJ is a very talented player. I hope LAX can go all the way again and CJ gets this award. I know I put in my ~50 or so votes over the last while. Go Duke!
