Whoever put the thread on sticky, great idea. It will make it so much easier to remember to vote and will eliminate all the "bump" posts.

Looks like the whole site is down right now. Assuming it comes back up, voting for lacrosse will probably close within a couple of days--so if you can get there, vote!

Site's back up. Costabile's down by .1 point, so keep voting. When does the voting end on this?

It ends May 14, a little later than I thought--but still only a week more to vote. http://www.seniorclassaward.com/news...es_senior_cla/

    Let's finish big!

Edit: The above link is to the story announcing the date the vote closes. For convenience, here is the voting link again: http://www.seniorclassaward.com/vote/lacrosse_2012/

Hmmmm...checked site and our man was down 20.7 to 20.2...signed off from the voting site to take a late dinner out of the oven....came back to log in again as I hadn't voted...within 20 minutes the leader's total had increased to 20.9....hmmmmm.

My point above being...that increase may indicate a suspicious amount of voting in a 20 minute span for the "leader" such to increase the percentage for the leader by .5 in a very small unit of time.

Also, while I am a words and thoughts guy not a math/science/computer person, it strikes me as a bit odd that our man's percentage would stay the same rather than decline slightly during the slew of votes "cast" for the leader during that short midnight 20 minute period.

Perhaps some kind of ballot stuffing was in play. Or perhaps the total for the leader was simply tampered with without attention to realizing such a big change in the leader's percentage would cause our man's percentage to decline.

    Thoughts?

Off the top of my head I'm thinking anyone clever enough to tamper would be able to figure out that other percentages would still need to add up to 100--perhaps the shift was accounted for by dips in other candidates rather than CJ.

On the other hand, ballot stuffing of one sort or another might be possible. Theoretically, at least, the fact that it's not possible to vote from the same computer more than once per day, coupled with the fact that it's necessary to type in a code, would seem to make robot voting schemes impossible, but there might be ways computer experts could get around this. When my daughter was in high school, her science-and-tech oriented school won a contest to get an appearance by a pop star because they were able to figure out how to do repeated automatic voting. But I don't think that contest had "type in the letters you see" protections.

Perhaps more likely is the old fashioned form of ballot stuffing--a campus-wide initiative for everyone to vote during the same 30-minute period, while they were thinking about it, or a tweet or mass text message reminding Notre Dame folks to vote. It's also possible that the site doesn't instantly and automatically update the totals, so you happened to check in just before and just after an update.

The current difference has our guy behind by 0.3%. In the past it always seemed that we were the best at ballot stuffing, but this time ND and DU are, as they always qualify, statistically tied. Another consideration is the fact that the this online vote counts for just one third in the overall ranking of these guys. I believe there is one third voting by coaches, and one third by media know nothings. A close online vote may not stand up to the others.
