Take 2 Excedrin...and call me in the morning...

I heard this, too! I love Josh, or Jiggy, as I love to call him. Capel said they missed him in the game and on the bench today. He brings energy, talks a lot, and acts kind of like TT does in the post. I hope it's nothing really bad, and he can get some rest and come back to play.

I guess from the contact that caused the cut on his face? Even the announcers were asking about a foul. I didn't see when it happened, and there was no replay, so I don't know if it was inadvertent contact.

Whatever the cause, I hope he's feeling better soon.

I have been an unabashed Josh fan since last year. Love the kid's potential, and the energy/fun he brings with him.

Recover quickly, Jiggy. You are an important part of the run we're about to make in March.

Josh's concussion will make medical history. It is the first non-contact concussion ever recorded. It must have been spontaneous, because if it had been caused by a blow to the head the referees surely would have called a foul!

Hope he's alright, and hope Thornton doesn't also have one. He took a helluva hit from Raines on that late, full-court screen.

As has been discussed here when Hurley, Paulus and several other of our point guards have violently run into a pick at mid court, that's the fault of his teammates for not verbally telling him, whoever him happens to be, that the pick is there before he runs into it. And today's was legal with no forward motion by the picker - it was all Tyler's e=mV(squared) that caused him to go down like a brick. Interestingly enough, once a player does it, he doesn't seem to do it again...

Hope Tyler's OK. He did come back into the game after the time out so there were no immediate concussion signs!
    Ozzie, your paradigm of optimism!

I thought it looked like a legal screen with no shoulders/elbows or movement by the VT player. Hard and rough but legal.

It also looked like mason was screaming and pointing, and ty perhaps didn't hear it

I think what happened was that Mason was turning and running back on defense - it being the last possession and all - rather than tracking and backpedalling with his man, yet Tyler was still pressing the ball. Mason yelled and pointed as soon as he turned around, but it was too late. I'm not really sure who's fault that is; I know they put it on Mason, but I'm not sure he knew Thornton was going to be pressing as closely as he was on that play.

Yeah especially in this matchup. They basically play a four guard lineup. And as much as I love Kelly he simply can't guard out there on the perimeter.

I agree with you - Mason was yelling and was definitely pointing.

Hmm K said Josh got "hit in the eye", had "blurred vision". Doesn't sound good, hope it doesn't affect him long-term.

From my seat on the grad student end, it looked like he had a cut on his left temple when the refs stopped play to escort him to the bench. When he walked off the court to the lockers, he was holding some guaze over it. I assumed initially it was a cut and he'd be back quickly - the concussion to go along with the cut makes more sense now that he didn't return.

    Green Did It

It happened at 15:40, on VTs first possession after the TV timeout. Josh was covering Green on a switch. Green drove into the lane. As Green went up for his shot, he appeared to catch Josh on the chin with his left elbow. Then, on the way down, Green's right hand follow thru came down across Josh's face.

Looks to me like the concussion was from the elbow; the cut was from the hand swipe.

So I expect tomorrow or Monday we will hear about Green's two game suspension.

Also... maybe it's my imagination... but when it happened, and on the replay, it looked to me like the VT player stopped playing and looked down at Tyler, seemingly to see if Tyler was OK. Very nice gesture, if that's what it really was

Interesting observation. Someone else (can't recall if it was in chat or here) thought he stood over TT in a "taunting" sense after he had leveled him with the screen. I will remain neutral as I could not tell either way.
