    His dad was actually born with the name "Eddie Battle". But the handwriting on his birth certificate was shoddy, and when he joined the Army, the recruiter believed the name on the Birth Certificate read "Battier" so they signed up "Eddie Battier". Once his dad realized the error, he decided to stick with Battier. Cool story. We could have very easily have been pulling for "Shane Battle" all these years..

    Thanks, OldΦΚ, but actually the Army thought that "Battier" was right which made it right. Catch 23, I believe.
