To be honest, Shelden's move is a little bit confusing. Obviously France is closer to Russia than the United States, but I would have to think that Shelden would have been a candidate for a team that could offer him a better deal. The chatter on the internet seems to be that he is being paid quite a bit compared to other players in the league, but France pays less than some of the other European leagues. I could certainly understand if he took a deal with the men's team that plays in the same city as his wife's team, for example. As near as I can tell, there are still a couple of decent level European teams that might be in the market for a post player, and I wonder if he could have gotten a better gig. Sometimes these European deals are a little bit complicated for us to analyze from this side of the Atlantic.
