With the preseason finishing up for most teams and the regular season and European games starting, I will be moving to the more regular posting schedule of one weekend update, usually coming on Sunday or Monday, and one midweek update, usually Thursdays but possibly some on Fridays. Like last year, I will cover European games from the three men's competitions and two women's competitions as well as all of the games involving Duke players.
Here are a couple more loose items before the main updates:
DeMarcus Nelson and Red Star Belgrade had one more preseason game on Sunday against fellow Serbian team Tamis and won 89-73. DeMarcus had 3 points as his teammate, ex-Virginia player Elton Brown had 16 points. Here is a brief summary of the game:

Extremely bad news came out of Australia this morning as Kathleen Scheer's knee will require rest and rehab that will rule her out for a number of weeks or possible months. She and her team have agreed to terminate her contract, so she will be returning to the United States. If she is able to rest and heal during the fall, it might be possible for her to begin her professional career in another league later in the season when teams are looking for reinforcements. Here are two articles on the situation:

On the other hand, Shelden Williams has been medically cleared to rejoin the team for practice and he should be fine for their regular season opener.
