It is good to see Shav recover from a couple of setbacks. There have been quite a few Duke players find a place to earn a living while playing basketball.

Marty Pocius and Real Madrid had a trip to Italy on tap in Euroleague action today as they faced Emporio Armani Milan and won 72-65. Marty played only a single minute as Rudy Fernandez scored 13 points as he prepares to leave. In the loss, Danilo Gallinari had 13 points and 6 rebounds and ex-Maryland player Drew Nicholas had 11 points. In Belgrade, Jon Scheyer was left off out of the 12 man squad for Maccabi Tel-Aviv's game with Partizan. They ended up losing 74-71 as their own player, the second round draft pick Milan Macvan, on loan at Partizan, scored 21 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to lead the charge against the team that still pays a portion of his salary. Nikola Pekovic added 17 points in the win while Jordan Farmar had 11 points in his farewell game and Devin Smith added 12 points.
In other Euroleague action, Turkish giants Fenerbahce defeated Greek side Olympiakos 86-70. Ex-Baylor player Curtis Jerrells led all scorers with 17 points in the win while in the loss, ex-UNC Greensboro player Kyle Hines had 14 points and 7 rebounds and ex-Michigan State player Kalin Lucas had 13 points. In Russia, UNICS Kazan defeated Turkish team Galatasaray 72-61 with the American trio of ex-BYU player Terrell Lyday, ex-Eastern Illinois player Henry Domercant, and ex-Temple player Lynn Greer providing 17, 13, and 12 points respectively. Italian team Montepaschi Siena went to Slovenia and edged out Union Olimpija 63-57. Ex-New Orleans star Bo McCalebb had 16 points in the win and ex-Indiana State player David Moss added 13 points. In the loss, former North Dakota State player Ben Woodside had 11 points and the UNC duo of Danny Green and Deon Thompson each had 10 points and 6 rebounds. Barcelona left Spain to face Polish team Asseco Prokom and pounded their hosts 76-45 with brief Michigan State player Erazem Lorbek scoring 15 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. In Italy, Bennet Cantu held off a furious comeback from Caja Laboral of Spain to win 71-68 as Goran Dragic barely had enough time to unpack before hearing the news about the NBA.
There were two more Euroleague Women games on Thursday, starting in Russia, where Nadezhda defeated Italian team Beretta-Famila 70-63 after getting 14 points from Katie Douglas. In the other game, Italian side Taranto defeated French outfit Lattes Montpellier 71-65. Kia Vaughn had 14 points and 9 rebounds in the win and ex-Kansas State player Megan Mahoney added 11 points and 6 rebounds.
