Question....are ACC "Champs" defined by winning regular season or tourney?

Just curious if there is an "official" terminology of who won the ACC by claiming the regular season or tournament.

The ACC champ is definitely the tourney champ, but many other conferences still define their official champion as the regular season champion. The ACC has a much greater history with the tournament, though, and several other conferences held out on even having one for a long time.

Not only is the Tournament winner the ACC Champion as a clear matter of Conference policy, but since the league's expansion and the demise of the "home and away round-robin," this is the ONLY logical approach, because no team's regular season schedule can be identical or equal to any other's.

It has always been the tourney.

Some teams get a bit of solace hanging an unofficial Regular Season Champions banner beside their NIT Runner up banner.

The ACC changed it a few years ago to recognize both the regular season and the tournament winner. Before the change only the tournament winner was the "real" ACC champ.

The Tourney winner is the ACC Champion. The regular season first place team can hang a "ACC Champion - Regular Season" banner. But they're not The Champion.
