Tiger's wife Elin gave birth to a baby girl on Monday. Now he won't have to miss the Brittish Open to attend the birth. I guess she delivered a couple of weeks early, but I don't know that for sure.

Little Sam is doing fine, and plans on continuing the traditions of the dominant Duke women's golf team starting in 2025. Maybe.
Ozzie, your paradigm of optimism!

I have never understood what Elin saw in Tiger. She could've had me.
Good thing he didn't force a playoff, after all.
Didn't something similar happen to Mickelson in 1999, when the U.S. Open was at Pinehurst? Phil's wife was due to give birth any day, and he said that if she went into labor while he was playing, he'd withdraw immediately and fly home. I think his caddy actually carried a pager or cell phone while they were on the course.
Phil lost the Open by a stroke when Payne Stewart rolled in a long birdie putt on the last hole. If I'm remembering correctly, his wife ended up giving birth the next day -- so even if there had been a playoff, Phil likely would've had to withdraw and concede the title to Stewart anyway.
I've LOVED Tiger Woods since his college days (...although I was pissed that he went to Stanford rather than Duke). HE IS the MAN in golf -- exciting to watch and root for, raising the golf $$$ a hundredfold, articulate, athletic, and someone who has changed his sport forever-- how many athletes can say that! (maybe MJ & Lance & Nolan Ryan) Cudos to Tiger!!!
Love him always!!!! Damn, I can't wait to see him win another British Open!!
I just saw these pics. Sam is so precious looking, and her daddy looks as proud as can be.
